AMP! (Arts-based, Multiple intervention, Peer-education) is a sexual health education and HIV prevention approach developed through a collaboration between the Los Angeles Unified School District’s HIV Prevention programme and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA)’s Art & Global Health Center. In 2016, the program was introduced and tested for several years at North Carolina Central University, a historically Black institution through three human sexuality courses. Research indicates youth and young adults believe these types of interventions are more acceptable and memorable than traditional didactic teaching methods. This session will discuss the process and outcome of AMP at NCCU guided by the lead sexuality instructor, Dr. Tanya Bass.
